Thespian. Poet. Author. Businessman
A true enthusiast of the English language, I bring both dedication and passion to every lesson.
I hold a United Kingdom Ofqual Regulated Level 5 TEFL certification 300 Hour with additional certifications in Advanced Teaching Methodologies and Business English and IELTS preparation.
35 years of business experience across diverse industries.
I have performed in world-famous stage productions. I am an author and poet.
I have written several business papers that have been published internationally, including authoring an industry-specific English language learning handbook for non-English learners.
Students praise my engaging style and my unique ability to demystify complex vocabulary by relating them to everyday situations, ensuring concepts stick.
My teaching approach is centred on the learner and I begin by getting an understanding of each student’s goals, life experiences, strengths, and determine what works best for them in a learning environment.
Together we create clear, achievable steps towards reaching their individual goals.
My lessons, combine open conversation with guided practice of each skill. When necessary I will provide on-the-go error correction that does not interfere with the flow of the lesson or positive discussion. Each lesson is followed up with timely, constructive feedback and direction.
In my experience, learners want a mix of speaking opportunity and correction. In this regard it is helpful to determine how much of each a student is looking for in their learning.
I believe that effective communication is not only about the words we use, or how we structure sentences, but more how we use vocabulary and grammar to express ourselves. It is important to me that learners understand that any conversation that can be understood, no matter how remedial or basic the level, is still a conversation, because the majority of native speakers are not accurate communicators.
